



As some of you perhaps already know I do surveys HITs only. I had never heard of this before, but have considered it. These are not trick questions and serve no purpose beyond making sure that you are reading carefully. To prove that you are reading carefully, we will periodically ask objective questions. Thus, it is our professional obligation to ensure the quality of our data. It's also a problem for society overall, as corporate policy, government recommendations, and even medical suggestions might be based off of this careless, meaningless data. This is a major problem for the researchers, who rely on and pay for honest data in order to maintain their careers. "As you may have heard, there is a problem with MTurkers using "bots" (computer software) to randomly fill out surveys. Just took a survey that had an interesting blurb I'd like to share.
